Description

Join us at Westgate Park (Via Todd Rd Port Melbourne) as we dive into the world of propagation by seed.

We will start this class by walking around the park and exploring its indigenous plants. Where possible we will collect seeds that are in season giving you the opportunity to learn how to successfully harvest seeds from your own plants.

After the walk, we will make our way to the Friends of Westgate Park facilities where you will learn all about propagating indigenous plants from seed.

After this class you will be equipped to collect, store and plant seeds just in time for the seed collecting season!

This Master Class will cover:

  • How to collect viable seed
  • How to store seed
  • Seeds treatments to increase germination
  • Growing media
  • Creating environmental conditions that help germination
  • Pricking out and planting out
  • Tips for success
  • Practice your seed propagation skills
  • Question and Answer

You will get to take home some pots of seeds that you have planted.

We are also excited to be able to offer for purchase a wonderful locally published book called "Collect and Grow That Seed - Small Australian Plants."  If you think you may want to buy the book, you can check it out at the workshop. It costs $30 cash  per book(no card facilities available)
